West Village Townhouse

In this West Village townhouse, architecture and landscape architecture combine to create a modern outdoor room that balances the play and entertaining needs of a young family with the desire to create an enclosed urban retreat. Clean lines, well defined edges and warm finishes define the space. The garden’s refined color palette is reflected in the pale blue of the garden pavers, zinc clad retaining walls, bleached wood of the cedar fence, tonal greens and white blooms of the woodland groundcover and the mottled bark of the Birch trees.

Three floors above, the townhouse’s small rooftop terrace was designed as a quiet rooftop retreat for the busy clients. Multi-stemmed Crape Myrtles underplanted with sculptural grasses provide a delicate foil to the urban landscape beyond and add year-round interest.
