Darien, CT With expansive views of Long Island Sound, this waterfront garden was designed to highlight the site’s extensive rock outcrops. Progressing through a long driveway to an entry court, visitors to this classic shingle style family retreat are welcomed by a fragrant Daphne x burkwodii massing paired with specimen Magolia solangiana and a Stewardia pseudocamillia trees along the front entry walkway. Throughout the landscape, as in the front entry court, stonewalls and pathways have been seamlessly integrated into the site’s many rock formations. A large rock garden has been established under a high Oak canopy in the rear of the property which faces the waterfront. Credits |
