Robin Key brings over 25 years of experience in institutional and residential projects to her practice. Her interest in the preservation of New York City’s greenspaces has led to many interesting projects and opportunities. In 1996, RKLA completed the master plan for First Presbyterian Church on Fifth Avenue in New York City. In December of 2007, RKLA was awarded the commission for Saint Patrick’s Cathedral’s Parish House and Bicentennial Garden Project and Restoration Project. Mindful of the layered history the urban context embodies, Robin’s work bridges historic precedent and modern design.

Prior to forming Robin Key Landscape Architecture (formerly Robin Key Landscape Design) in 1987, Robin gained professional experience as an associate with Daniel D. Stewart & Associates in New York City and T.J. Boyle Associates in Vermont. Robin serves on the board of the Olana Partnership whose mission is to preserve and enhance Olana, the home and studio of Hudson River School artist Frederic Edwin Church (1826-1900). Olana’s landscape is recognized as one of the finest remaining examples of the picturesque style in this country.

Robin graduated from the University of Vermont with a degree in Plant and Soil Science and pursued her graduate studies in landscape architecture at the Conway School of Landscape Design and Cornell University. She is a registered Landscape Architect in New York State and a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects.
