Brooklyn Heights Carriage House

Located in the Brooklyn Heights Historic District, the rooftop of this former carriage house has been designed as an urban country garden. Accessible by a broad, exterior stairway, the rooftop has been divided into programmatic zones. The garden includes lounge, dining and cooking areas as well as a water feature and space for the client’s hammock. In order to accommodate the many plantings planned for the garden, a new structural steel platform was designed in collaboration with the project architect and structural engineer. A dedicated area has been designed for vegetable gardening as well.
