Brooklyn Restoration

47 Plaza Street is a residential apartment building located on Grand Army Plaza at the entrance to Prospect Park in Brooklyn. It was designed by, Rosario Candela, the prolific, early twentieth century architect who designed many well know apartment buildings in New York - most notably along Park Avenue. The building at 47 Plaza Street was built in 1928.

RKLA was commissioned to oversee the restoration of the magnificent original perimeter railing. At 4-feet tall and 340-feet in length, the restoration was a multi-year effort involving the compete removal of fence in five phases (weighing 35,000lbs in total), shop restoration and the casting of over 1,500 new parts, painting, and reinstallation. The restoration also included replacing the original bluestone curb and recladding the retaining wall on Union Street. A new perimeter garden was installed at the end of the project.
