This small roof terrace garden is located on top of an Upper West Side townhouse. In order for the building to support the weight of the garden and a new steel pergola, an elevated steel deck had to be installed above the existing roof membrane. In addition to the pergola, the garden includes zinc and corten steel planters, powder-coated aluminum trellises, and custom concrete pavers. The planting plan was developed closely with the clients – who are avid gardeners - and includes many edible plants. The project received approval from the Landmarks Preservation Commission and the NYC Department of Buildings.
